About the Role
The Red Hat Experience Engineering (XE) team is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join us in India. In this role, you will contribute value to Red Hat’s customers and support associates through the development, testing, and enhancement of both customer-facing and internal systems as part of an agile and globally distributed product development team. This role requires a blended Development and Quality Engineering skill set, with ownership of both feature development and end-to-end testing to ensure high-quality, scalable systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new features for diagnostic and support processes available for Red Hat’s customers and support associates.
- Design, implement, and extend both Red Hat internal and customer facing software tools.
- Ability to understand complex requirements and learn new technologies as needed.
- Write maintainable code with attention towards clarity and facilitation of collaboration.
- Ensure ongoing quality of the application codebases through, troubleshooting, bug fixes, refactoring and tests.
- Collaborate with other developers across multiple departments and technologies for different integration use cases.
- Deep dive into performance issues with the intent of discovering their root cause on complex distributed systems deployed on infrastructure.
- Own end-to-end validation and testing of applications, including functional, integration, and regression testing.
- Document your research and results clearly and concisely, and communicate findings to the team and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or any related field.
- Good understanding of computer science fundamentals and data structures.
- Motivated to learn new technologies and develop new skills.
- Intermediate development and scripting abilities in Python. Experience in developing applications using Python.
- Experience working on Linux or UNIX platform.
- Familiar with collaborative software development methodologies, tools, and version control.
- Understanding of testing concepts, API validation, and automation basics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to AI concepts such as LLMs, Agentic AI, and MCPs.
- Prior participation in open source software projects.
- Openshift deployment experience.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Experience with continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) systems.
- Experience working on message-driven architecture.
